My younger brother was saying that while a lot of the info in the app is not publicly published as yet, a previous app by the same people uses the same index locations for things (landmarks, etc.). If the locations have any kind of seeding logic from the previous app, the creature locations might as well.

Its funny how many Pokestops are near my house, but I am near a downtown area. Unfortunately I am not a high enough level to visit the gym which is central downtown... I mean I DONT PLAY POKEMON GO WTF.

Pretty sure it is like that. Everything I’ve seen in Manhattan that wasn’t coerced into popping up (lure module) has been Rattatas and Pidgeottos and things like that.
